Vitalant Launches Cell-Based Analytics Lab to Support Allogeneic Therapy Developers
New Phoenix laboratory expands Vitalant’s CGT analytics network with additional donor characterization and immune profiling capabilities
Orthogonal cell-based analytics platforms will support assay development and immunomodulatory product development
Vitalant, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit blood and biotherapies healthcare organizations, today announced the launch of its analytics lab at the Phoenix Bioscience Core, expanding its cell and gene therapy (CGT) analytical capabilities for developers of allogeneic cell therapies. The new laboratory will support cell-based analytics, providing enhanced characterization of allogeneic donors and immune profiling, and offering flexible support for assay development across cell-based analytics platforms.
This latest facility with specialized equipment is designed to serve biotech and pharmaceutical therapy developers and other teams seeking access to scientific expertise and broader donor datasets. The analytics lab, which supports a wide range of immunomodulatory drug developers, is part of Vitalant's integrated clinical, production and testing network organized around centers of excellence, creating community access across Vitalant’s national footprint.
The lab is anchored within the Phoenix Bioscience Core, a 30-acre life sciences innovation district in the heart of downtown Phoenix and part of Vitalant’s flagship presence in the city. This summer, Vitalant also unveiled new investigative and diagnostic analytical capabilities through its expanded coagulation laboratory in Pittsburgh.
“Phoenix has built a life sciences ecosystem where research, talent and innovation come together to improve lives,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said. “Vitalant’s new analytics lab strengthens the Phoenix Bioscience Core with advanced capabilities that can help accelerate the development of next-generation therapies. Continued investments like this reinforce Phoenix’s role in advancing healthcare innovation here and around the world.” The analytics lab supports the growth of Vitalant's characterized allogeneic donor base and nationwide collection infrastructure. By expanding characterization capabilities, Vitalant aims to help developers evaluate source material more effectively and, over time, explore data-driven approaches to therapy selection based on patient-cell characteristics. “Our new analytics lab strengthens Vitalant’s clinical, technical and scientific capabilities and insights offered to allogeneic therapy developers,” said Becky Cap, senior vice president of biotherapies at Vitalant. “This coordinated ecosystem provides the critical infrastructure and services developers need to scale advanced therapies and bring innovative treatments to patients faster.”
