Vitalant lab services are offered through our reference laboratories and AABB accredited IRL locations offering serological testing; molecular genetic testing; platelet antibody identification, screening and crossmatching; HLA selected platelets; antigen-negative blood products; and medical and technical consultation.

Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Laboratories

Vitalant laboratory services support transplant and oncology programs nationwide. High and low-resolution testing results are offered through our ASHI-accredited HLA testing laboratories in Phoenix and Sacramento with low-resolution testing available in Spokane. . Our HLA labs provide support for cell therapy donor screening and product testing, and support for bone marrow transplant, solid organ transplant and transfusions including typing, matching and antibody identification.

Coagulation Services

The Vitalant Coagulation Laboratory performs more than 11,000 investigative, diagnostic, and routine monitoring tests every month for physicians, healthcare partners and reference laboratories across the U.S. Our comprehensive testing capabilities and blood lab services support the diagnosis and treatment of blood coagulation disorders. In addition, we offer specialty coagulation services that include medical consultation, testing and education. Vitalant’s coagulation lab team also works closely with investigators to advance blood-disease research. This laboratory has a specialty molecular testing focus and supports gene therapies delivered at Vitalant’s Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC), the Hemophilia Center of Western Pennsylvania (HCWP), including delivery of gene therapies to patients there.
